Dear 2026 NEA RA Delegates,

Thank you for your flexibility and patience! We’ve spoken to the photographer, and there’s an option to get the photo taken at 1:45 for whoever is available at the time, but we understand with the RA delays and photographer changes, folks need to get food and get to Day of Learning. 

We are also making plans as a delegation to get a group photo done on our time and our terms tomorrow in our purple shirts and will send out the time and location ASAP! 🙂

Here is the screenshot of where the risers are located.  They are just outside the main room stage left. (Exit the hall towards the registration area and they are directly to the left when you leave the room). Please have your state have their lunch and then come back to the risers 15 minutes before sessions begin again. This will alleviate any waiting for you as we have a handful of states to get through during this break.

Days of Learning + Organizing for Power Sessions

The 2026 NEA RA Delegates have decided to have Days of Learning again this year!

We have been advised of the following: Reminder that the Organizing for Power classes/sessions begin tomorrow. It is important that you attend the sessions that are listed on the back of your badge. If you have any questions, please refer to Lakeisha or Winifred.

No Recording on the Floor

Reminder from Board Forum – do not take pictures or record videos on the RA Floor. Additionally, do not post to social media without consent from all parties involved.

If you are in a charging area, please be aware of the fragrance-free areas. There were numerous concerns shared about this yesterday.

2026 NEA Elections – State Caucus Voting Reminders

  • Voting: Sunday, July 5, in Hall D for all offices and Constitution & Bylaws amendments. Runoff elections, if needed, will be held Monday, July 6.
  • Texas delegation voting time: 11:45 a.m. Please vote during your assigned time to help avoid long lines.
  • Bring your voting credential (badge will be scanned) to receive your ballot.
  • Use only the writing implement provided in the voting booth and leave it there when you’re finished.
  • Campaign materials are not allowed in the voting area.
  • Only credentialed delegates may enter the voting area.
  • No cell phone use or photography is permitted in the voting area or while waiting in line. Review electronic candidate or ballot information before entering the voting line.
  • Accessible voting is available in Hall D or the Delegates with Disabilities Voting Area behind the RA stage.
  • Ex-officio delegates with limited voting rights may vote only on Constitution and Bylaws amendments using a special ballot.
  • To support sustainability, delegates are encouraged to review candidate and ballot information electronically before entering the voting line.

RAA Event

Columbus Native and Ohio Basketball Hall of Famer Helen Darling is our new RAA Ambassador and she will be at the 2026 NEA RA  on July 3rd, 2026 at 1pm!  We invite you to come and celebrate the joy of reading with our new RAA Ambassador  before heading over to our first TSTA Caucus meeting of the 2026 NEA RA! 

This event will be across from the registration booth at the Colorado Convention Center, which is located in Hall F.

NEA RA Delegate Check-In

Friendly reminder that NEA RA Delegate Check-In is from 9am-5pm tomorrow at the Colorado Convention Center in Hall F tomorrow – we highly recommend taking care of that before coming to caucus.

Please be advised that being registered and checked in for the NEA RA has no correlation on being checked in for the First Texas Caucus Meeting, and the reverse is also true. You must still check in for the Texas Caucus when you arrive at Centennial F+G tomorrow.

Texas Caucus Delegate Check-In

To check in for the Texas Caucus, please arrive at Centennial F+G on the 3rd floor of the Hyatt Regency. Delegate Check-In will start at approximately 1/1:15 PM.

Please present your photo ID at the first table to check in as a delegate and receive your Delegate folder and Attendance QR code, then go to the second table to receive your purple t-shirt! Please note that the caucus room is right next to the elevator, and you can only enter the caucus room through Centennial F.

Registration FYIs

NEA has advised us of the following:

11am-2pm are the peak hours for registration, and likely to be the busiest.

If you have a guest with you, they need to go to Registration/Delegate Check-In with you to get their photo taken for the badge.

IN addition to the usual delegate materials, delegates will be given a clear bag to expedite security screening, a red card, and voting device instructions.

RA Todays and Resolutions Books, Digital RA Todays

Digital RA Todays will be available each day. Paper RA Todays will be delivered to our caucus hotel the mornings of July 3-5, and the NEA Resolutions books will be delivered on July 4th.

Voting Devices FYIs

NEA will leave out voting devices for all delegates in the Texas section. They will all have voting cards with a sticker on the back noting “Texas” and a number. The numbers are not assigned to anyone in particular, but don’t share with another delegate, as it only records one vote.

Keep them off when you arrive to maintain battery life, only turn on when advised in order to maintain battery life. They will be turned off during lunch, and shut off automatically at the end of the RA session.

These voting devices and cards do not leave the RA floor.  If you need to vote and you need to go to a different area of the Floor, such as going to the mic, take your voting card with you – you can use it in any voting device to vote! Leave it in the device otherwise.

If something is missing with your voting device, or you run into any issues, there are Voting Assistance booths – 4 total, 2 on each side of the RA Floor – walk up to them and ask for help.

Convention Center FYIs (cashless, magnetometers FYI, no guests allowed to sit with state delegation)

Friendly reminder that the Convention Center is 100% cashless.

If you have a medical device such as a pacemaker, please inform the officers at the security checkpoint before going through the magnetometer, and they will ensure that you are wanded instead.

Please be advised – NEA has advised that guests are not permitted to sit with the state’s delegation, with only very few special exceptions such as a medically required companion.

Update re: the NEA RA – in the Delegate Experience

NEA has advised that this year, the RA will be a closed session, meaning there will be no audio or visual streaming in the Delegate Experience outside of the RA session. NEA recommends timing excursions for meals and such along with the voting process when possible.

HCR Awards FYI

The HCR Awards Gala takes place July 3rd, with the reception at 5 pm, and the program starting at 6 pm. You need your photo ID and an email confirmation of your ticket.

Texas Caucus and NEA RA – the Flow of the Day

Friendly reminder that on July 3rd, complimentary breakfast will be available at the Hyatt Place/Hyatt House – 440 14th Street, Denver, CO 80202 (Texas lodging hotel) from 6:30-9am, RA Registration will be at the Convention Center from 9am-5pm – we highly recommend taking care of that before coming to caucus on 7/3, and finally, the Texas Caucus takes place at the Hyatt Regency Denver at Convention Center, in Centennial F+G on the 3rd floor from 1-5 pm, and we heads up that we will be serving coffee only.

And for July 4-7, there will be complimentary breakfast at the lodging hotel in the morning, the Texas Caucus will take place in the same location, from 7:45-9:15 am, serving coffee only, and then delegates will go to the Denver Convention Center for the RA starting at 10 am.

Delegate Check-In July 3rd and Convention Center Entry Points

Friendly reminder that Delegate Check In runs from 9am-5pm on July 3rd at the convention center, in Halls E+F.

To enter the Denver Convention Center from the street level, use either entrance on the front of the building on 14th Street to either the right (Stout Street) or the left (Welton Street) of the Big Blue Bear. Non-entry doors can be used for exiting only.

Clear bags will be distributed to delegates at registration. NEA HIGHLY recommends these are used for ease with getting through the magnetometers.

16th Street FreeRide bus

The 16th Street FreeRide is a complimentary shuttle service that operates seven days a week, providing convenient transportation between Denver Union Station and Civic Center Station. No ticket or fare is required—simply hop on and ride.

Whether you’re heading to a restaurant, shopping destination, hotel, or local attraction, the FreeRide’s fully electric, battery-powered buses offer an easy and environmentally friendly way to travel through downtown Denver.

Service runs from early morning until late evening, with buses arriving every 4 to 12 minutes, depending on the time of day. Be sure to check the current schedule before your trip.

Attendance System

We are continuing the attendance system that we used last year.

Starting 7/4, the Attendance Committee (Maria Allen, Catrina Chatman, Heather Cynor, and Krista Vivian) will scan you in via our new program using the QR codes that you will be receiving on 7/3 during delegate check-in. These QR codes are personal to you alone, and will be how we check you in for the remainder of the RA. Please keep them with you for the week; we recommend placing them inside the pouch of your RA badge. If you did not receive your QR code before leaving for the convention center, please connect with a TSTA staff member – Franklin Pan (franklinp@tsta.org) or Clinton Gill (clintong@tsta.org), and they will connect you with what you need.

PACtivist Pages are personal fundraising pages created by you to raise money for the NEA Fund. Each dollar you raise on your page will be credited toward your goal toward the Representative Assembly. Supporting the NEA Fund and spreading the word by sharing your page with others is vital to supporting public education and electing state and federal candidates who share our values. Delegate Services and Food at the Convention Center, NEA Diagrams

We have pulled the list of locations of Delegate Services and Food vendors at the Colorado Convention Center, as well as the NEA Diagrams of the convention center from the RA program booklet.

Reminder about RA Business deadlines

The new RA Business System is located online at https://ra-app.nea.org/delegates. The Committee on Constitution, Bylaws, and Rules (CCBR) will begin its review of all RA business, mindful of the following submission deadlines for each item:

  • Maker Modifications of Submitted and Accepted NBIs: 4:00pm Mountain Time, Wednesday, July 1, 2026.
  • NBI Maker Supporting Documentation: 8:00am Mountain Time, Saturday, July 4, 2026.
  • Amendments to Legislative Program, Resolutions, and Policy Statements: 4:00pm Mountain Time, Saturday, July 4, 2026.
  • Amendments to Items published in RA Today and/or on RA website: 8:00am Mountain Time on the day the item is to be considered.
  • Constitutional Amendments for 2027 Consideration: Tuesday, September 15, 2026, not later than 12:00 midnight Eastern Time.

NEA Day of Learning

We have attached NEA’s informational slide regarding the Day of Learning. NEA has added sessions created for the Day of Learning, which delegates can register for as part of their delegate registration. Keep in mind that the Day of Learning sessions are pending approval by the delegates to modify the Standing Rules.

Delegate Materials

Please find attached an e-version of the delegate booklet that we will be distributing at the Texas Caucus, as well as the informational PowerPoint that President Molina presented on during the Delegate Webinar on June 15th. NEA has also published the RA Floor State Chart, which we have attached to this email.

Delegate Voting Times

Polls will be located in the Colorado Ballroom Room 203/204 at the Colorado Convention Center. The polls will be open from 8:30 am to 12 noon on Sunday, July 5 and Monday, July 6, if runoffs are necessary. 

Breakfast Times @ Lodging Hotel

We will have breakfast at the lodging hotel – the hotel has advised that in order to accommodate NEA, they will be opening breakfast at 6:30 AM daily.

Personal Rental Options – Information from NEA

Delegates are free to rent their own personal devices for use on-site at the Representative Assembly. If you would like to reserve your own personal mobility device, please consider the options below. 

Please note the following:

  • All personal mobility device rental services and contracts are at the sole cost of and responsibility of the delegate.
  • NEA does not receive information on individual personal rentals from rental companies. If you have questions regarding your personal rental while on site, please reach out directly with the rental company.
  • Drop offs and returns of personal rentals are the responsibility of the delegate and not the Colorado Convention Center, the State Delegation Hotel, NEA Transportation Services and/or the Accessibility Services office. Please see below for information on mobility device storage.
  • Due to limited space at the convention center, NEA strongly encourages that delegates ask for their mobility device to be delivered to their hotel.
  • Scooters and mobility devices come in different sizes and dimensions. All devices not will fit onto shuttle vehicles. Please see below for more information on scooters on NEA shuttles.
  • NEA assumes no liability for services contracted with external service partners.

Accommodations Provided by NEA’s Accessibility Services

As part of our ongoing effort to make the NEA Representative Assembly inclusive and accessible to all delegates, Accessibility Services provides a range of services for delegates attending the RA, covering a range of needs, including but not limited to:

  • Transportation from RA block hotels to state caucus meetings and further to the RA, and back to block hotels.
    • Shuttles run on a set schedule. Timings are outlined on the registration form if the attendee notes they will utilizing accessible shuttle services.
  • On-site wheelchair services and transportation assistance throughout the RA venue (See below for more details on RA provided wheelchairs).
  • Large-print materials 
  • ASL interpretation and captioning
  • Scent-free space on the RA floor
  • Reserved space for wheelchair parking on RA floor
  • Sensory Relief room

When completing the Accessibility Services registration form, please outline your needs and a member of the Accessibility Services team will be in touch to confirm receipt and provide guidance regarding your accommodation request. No additional fees or surcharges will be requested from the delegate for accessible accommodations provided during the RA.

Notes on Wheelchairs and Additional Mobility or Medical Devices

Wheelchairs – NEA uses wheelchairs in the convention center to assist delegates with mobility or accessibility needs to and from the Representative Assembly. These chairs are shared and not assigned to individual delegates.

Scooter and Electric Wheelchair Storage: You may store your scooter in the Accessibility Services Office each night starting July 3rd until the meeting ends on July 7th, if space permits. Keep in mind the Accessibility Services Office structure is a temporary build and not a high security storage area. If you plan to transport your rented mobility scooter to the center from your hotel, please indicate this in the registration questions so that we can try to accommodate your scooter without disrupting service. We aim to avoid surprises at the curb to retain the quality of service.

Scooters on NEA Shuttles – As a safety precaution, riders are not permitted to remain on scooters when traveling on NEA shuttles. They must transfer to bus seats before buses depart. Drivers will be instructed to enforce this policy, and riders’ cooperation is appreciated.

NEA RA Registration is Now Live!

NEA RA registration launched last week! If you are an elected delegate and have not received an invitation, please visit ra.nea.org, click on RA Support, Registration, then the Registration button, and complete the Contact Customer Support form.

Registered Delegates will be able to proceed to the Express Check-in lines when they arrive at the convention center on July 3rd to receive their badge and delegate materials.

NEA Member Non-Delegates may register in person at the Convention Center on July 3rd and 4th only.  Registration for non-delegates closes at 5:00 pm on July 4th.

Delegate Attire

Please note the following information regarding suggested attire, but we are not obligating any uniforms.  For the 1st Texas Caucus Meeting on July 3rd, we are encouraging delegates to wear one of their local shirts, and we will be providing a TSTA purple shirt for the last day of caucus on July 7th. In the past, delegates have also worn patriotic attire on the 4th of July and also showcased the Texas flag with their attire, wearing a TX flag shirt or vest. 

To help delegates plan their days, here is guidance based on conversations with NEA and other state affiliates:

RA Transportation, Texas Hotels this year, Local Light Rail

We want to advise y’all that the Texas Delegation will be lodging in the Hyatt Place Denver Downtown – 440 14th Street, Denver, CO 80202, and we will be caucusing at the Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center – 650 15th Street, Denver, CO 80202, in rooms Centennial F+G.

The Hyatt Place Denver Downtown is 0.1 mile from the Hyatt Regency Denver, approximately a 4+ minute walk, and the Denver Convention Center – 700 14th St, Denver, CO 80202 – is directly across the street from the Hyatt Regency Denver. Because our lodging and caucus hotels are all within 1-2 blocks of each other and the convention center itself, this means that Texas is in what are known as walking hotels, and will not be on a shuttle route. We’ve attached a map showing the locations, as well as the RA Bus Routes pamphlet showing information about the HCR Dinner transportation.

RA and TX Caucus Schedule

The Representative Assembly will take place July 3-7 at the Denver Convention Center, beginning at 10 am daily.

The Texas Caucus is scheduled to meet at the Texas Delegation Hotel – Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center – in Centennial F+G from 1-5 pm on July 3 and 7:30-9 am on July 4, 5, 6 and 7.  

New Business Item (NBI) Submission

The new RA Business System is located online at https://ra-app.nea.org/delegates. Full launch for access by RA delegates will take place on Wednesday, June 3, in conjunction with the launch of online RA Delegate Registration in Cvent. The Committee on Constitution, Bylaws, and Rules (CCBR) will begin its review of all RA business, mindful of the following submission deadlines for each item:

  • New Business Items (NBIs): 4:00pm Mountain Time, Friday, June 19, 2026.
  • Maker Modifications of Submitted and Accepted NBIs: 4:00pm Mountain Time, Wednesday, July 1, 2026.
  • NBI Maker Supporting Documentation: 8:00am Mountain Time, Saturday, July 4, 2026.
  • Amendments to Legislative Program, Resolutions, and Policy Statements: 4:00pm Mountain Time, Saturday, July 4, 2026.
  • Amendments to Items published in RA Today and/or on RA website: 8:00am Mountain Time on the day the item is to be considered.

Please note the following essential requirements for item submissions:

  • NBI Maker Modifications NEA Standing Rule 6.A requires that modifications by NBI makers may be submitted no later than 4:00pm Mountain Time on July 1. Revisions must address the same submission category as the original new business item but may include different actions reasonably related to the action in the original NBI. A maker’s modification will replace the original submission. 
  • NBI Maker Supporting Documentation Standing Rule 6.A additionally requires that NBI supporting documentation must be submitted not later than 8:00am Mountain Time on July 4. Supporting documentation can be any one of the following:
    • By petition of delegates – petition of at least fifty (50) NEA delegates.
    • By state delegation – a majority vote of those present and voting at a state delegation at a regularly called meeting of the delegation in connection with the Annual Meeting.
    • By governance body – a governance body of the NEA or a state or local affiliate. 

NEA RA Registration

RA Delegate Registration opens on June 3rd – all delegates will receive an email from NEA with the link to register. Please keep an eye on your inbox and spam folder and reach out to rasupport@nea.org ASAP for assistance if you do not receive the invitation to register. Please remember that once you have reviewed the Summary page at the end of the registration form, to hit submit in order to complete your registration, and you will be directed to a confirmation page with your registration confirmation number. If you do not hit “submit”, your registration will be incomplete and you will continue to receive reminders to register.

Please be certain to register using the email address through which you received the email from NEA as it is the email address in the RA Reg system associated with your name. If you need us to change the email associated with your delegate record, please advise us ASAP so that NEA can ensure a different email is tied to your delegate record. All delegates are expected to be registered and in attendance by noon on July 4th.

NEA Members, who are Non-Delegates, are welcome to attend the 2026 RA.  They will need to register onsite at the convention center, as there is no pre-registration available for non-delegate members.  Before a badge is issued, membership will be verified.

Delegates, Association Staff, and NEA Member Non-Delegates will be able to bring guests to the RA in 2026.  All guests must be associated with a member or staff registrant and can be added during the registration process.  No guests will be allowed to register without being associated with an existing registration.  Guest badges will be handed out only to the sponsoring member or staff person, never to the guest directly.
