From the Air

The Portland International Airport, also known as PDX, is the largest in the state of Oregon and is located inside Portland city limits, 6 miles (10 km) northeast of downtown Portland. PDX has just completed a decade-long, $2 billion renovation that has doubled the airport’s passenger capacity, while retaining the small-town comforts that make it so beloved.

Tri-Met Passes

NEA has informed us that many of the state hotels will not be on a bus route this year. The shuttle schedule is still being finalized, but it is expected that Texas will be one of the states not on a bus route. NEA will be providing TriMet HOP Passes (public transportation passes) to TSTA Staff, which we will then distribute to Texas delegates at the First Texas Caucus Meeting on June 2nd. These passes will be valid on TriMet MAX Light Rail lines, street car lines, and city bus routes from July 2-7. The HOP Pass can be used to get back to the airport on July 7th via the MAX RED line. We have been advised that MAX Light rail runs from 4am-midnight.

Maps showing key information and specific walking instructions from the hotels to the nearest MAX platforms will be created and distributed by NEA. TriMet, the city’s transportation organization, has been informed of the large movement of people each morning of the RA and is prepared with increased staffing including security personnel and additional, dedicated Light Rail cars at 9 am and 9:15 am. And on the afternoon of July 2 and the morning of July 3, city ambassadors will be stationed at key spots on the major walking paths between hotels and MAX platforms for support.

From NEA, “All delegations will receive a Tri-Met pass which is good for the Max (train), Streetcar or the Bus throughout Portland.  You will receive your passes at the State Coordinator’s meeting which is on June 30th from 1pm – 3pm at the Oregon Convention Center – Oregon Ballroom 221. Travel Portland will provide customized walking maps from your hotel to the train platform.”
